Included with patch 2.3 are new daily quests. Now, aside from the daily quests from Netherwing, Sha'tari Skyguard, and Ogri'la, there are now 4 new daily quests to do. One of those is the Cooking daily quest. The Cooking Daily Quests not only reward cash, but some random raw food, together with the new Cooking recipes.
Located at the northern part of Shattrath City, in the Lower City is the new NPC, The Rokk, a goblin, who gives the Cooking daily quest. He is by the left side of the Netherwing Drakes. The quest that he gives is random for each day, among 4 kinds of Cooking quests that he can give. These quests are very easy to do, and most of them require some cooked food.
List of Cooked Foods for the Daily Quests
Warp Burger
- requires a Warped Flesh to cook.
- Warped Flesh comes from any Warp Stalker mobs in Outland. Specifically, they are located in Terokkar Forest or in Netherstorm.
- the Warp Burger recipe can be bought from Innkeeper Girika in Stonebreaker Hold (Horde) or from Supply Officer Mills in Allerian Stronghold (Alliance). These two towns are both located in Terokkar Forest.
Roasted Clefthoof
- requires a Clefthoof Meat to cook.
- Clefthoof Meat comes from any Clefthoof mobs in Nagrand. The Decrepit Clefthoof mobs in Terokkar Forest doesn't drop Clefthoof Meat.
- the Roasted Clefthoof recipe can be bought from Nula the Butcher in Garadar (Horde) or from Uriku in Telaar (Alliance). These two towns are both located in Nagrand.
Mok'Nathal Shortribs
- requires a Raptor Ribs to cook.
- Raptor Ribs comes from any Raptor mobs in Outland. Specifically, they are located in Blade's Edge Mountains or in Netherstorm.
- the Mok'Nathal Shortribs recipe can be obtained by the Horde through the quest Mok'Nathal Treats from Matron Varah at Mok'Nathal Village in Blade's Edge Mountains. Alliance players can buy the recipe from Sassa Weldwell at Toshley's Station in Blade's Edge Mountains.
Crunchy Serpent
- requires a Serpent Flesh to cook.
- Serpent Flesh comes from any Wind Serpent mobs in Outland. Specifically, they are located in Blade's Edge Mountains or in Netherstorm. The Cobalt Serpent mob found inside the Sethekk Halls instance can also drop these. Also, the summoned mini-boss Vakkiz the Windrager can actually drop Serpent Flesh too.
- the Crunchy Serpent recipe can be obtained by the Horde through the quest Mok'Nathal Treats from Matron Varah at Mok'Nathal Village in Blade's Edge Mountains. Alliance players can buy the recipe from Sassa Weldwell at Toshley's Station in Blade's Edge Mountains.
These are the 4 types of cooked food that a cooking daily might require. You can go and farm for these beforehand so you can finish the daily quest immediately. Furthermore, once you've started doing some cooking daily quests, you can get some of the raw meat as a reward. You can just keep them and then use them for the next day's cooking daily, or use them for your own consumption. Aside from these required cooked foods, a quest might require you to get additional things. It all depends on what cooking quest you have gotten.
The Daily Cooking Quests
Cooking Quest # 1 - Manalicious
- Requires 15 Mana Berries.
This quest is just pure gathering. You just need to collect 15 Mana Berries only found inside the Eco-domes in Netherstorm. There are 3 Eco-domes in Netherstorm, namely Eco-dome Midrealm, Eco-dome Farfield, and the one where Stormspire is situated. Mana Berry Bushes can be found in any of the Eco-domes, except around Stormspire. Look for sparkling bushes inside the Eco-domes and collect them. Be careful though, since there are some mobs nearby so you might need to fight them to collect the berry bushes near them. Once you have collected 15, just go back to The Rokk and finish the quest. Travelling can be a pain here, but this is the easiest cooking daily quest.
Cooking Quest # 2 - Revenge is Tasty
- Requires Kaliri Stew.
- Cooking Pot provided. Requires 3 Warp Burgers and a Giant Kaliri Wing to cook Kaliri Stew on any cooking fire.
For this quest, The Rokk will provide you a Cooking Pot to cook the Kaliri Stew with. Go to Skettis for this quest, since this is the place to get the materials for the Kaliri Stew. The Kaliri Stew itself will need 3 Warp Burgers and a Giant Kaliri Wing. The Warp Burger is a cooked food (see above) and can be easily attainable nearby from the Blackwind Warp Chasers at the mountainsides of Skettis. The Giant Kaliri Wing on the other hand can be gotten from the Monstrous Kaliris that roam all around Skettis.
You should remember these annoying large birds that fly around while you were doing your Skettis daily quests. To get the Giant Kaliri Wing, you will need to find a Monstrous Kaliri and kill it. The only problem would be that you will need to find a Monstrous Kaliri and engage it in mid-air, then try to fly down to a nearby land, a nearby platform, some nearby cliff, or even just jump down to the water and bring it with you, then kill it properly. The drop rate for the Giant Kaliri Wing is rather low, around 3% or so. And since these Monstrous Kaliris are now needed for a quest (this quest particularly), you'll be seeing less Monstrous Kaliris around sometimes, since other players will hunt them too. Just fly around and engage them until you get a Giant Kaliri Wing. Once you get the necessary materials, cook the Kaliri Stew near any cooking fire and you're done. Deliver the Kaliri Stew back to The Rokk and the quest is complete.
Cooking Quest # 3 - Soup for the Soul
- Requires Spiritual Soup.
- Cooking Pot provided. Requires 4 Roasted Clefthoof to cook Spiritual Soup at the Ancestral Grounds in Nagrand.
This quest has a Cooking Pot provided like the previous quest. Go to Nagrand this time to get the materials required and also to cook the Spiritual Soup itself. On this quest, the Cooking Pot requires only cooked food, so this quest is actually easy. Cooking the Spiritual Soup requires 4 Roasted Clefthoof, so if you don't have them ready, just go kill some Clefthoof around Nagrand and cook up the 4 Clefthoof Meat that you get.
After getting the 4 Roasted Clefthoof, go to the Ancestral Grounds in Nagrand. It’s located near the mountains at the southwest of Nagrand, a little west of the Consortium post. Once you have reached the place, find a bonfire there and cook the Spiritual Soup there. Note that there are some orc mobs nearby so you will have to clear some of them before you can cook the Spiritual Soup properly. Once the Spiritual Soup has been cooked, return to The Rokk and present it to him to complete the quest.
Cooking Quest # 4 - Super Hot Stew
- Requires Demon Broiled Surprise.
- Cooking Pot provided. Requires 2 Mok'Nathal Shortribs and 1 Crunchy Serpent to cook Demon Broiled Surprise on an Abyssal Flamebringer's corpse at Forge Camp: Terror in Blade's Edge Mountains.
This is another quest with a Cooking Pot provided. This quest's location is Blade's Edge Mountains, so head there if you get this quest. Same with the Soup for the Soul quest, you only need cooked foods to cook the required Demon Broiled Surprise. The cooked foods needed this time are 2 Mok'Nathal Shortribs and 1 Crunchy Serpent. If you don't have them beforehand, you can go and kill some raptors at the Razor Ridge and wind serpents at the Scalewing Shelf in Blade's Edge Mountains until you get 2 Raptor Ribs and 1 Serpent Flesh.
Cook them up somewhere with a cooking fire and then proceed to Forge Camp: Terror, located at the southern Vortex Pinnacle. Be careful of the Fel Flak Cannons there, or you might got shot down. Once you reach the Vortex Pinnacle, land and use your land mount instead to avoid being shot down by the Fel Flak Cannons. Once you reach Forge Camp: Terror, look for an Abyssal Flamebringer and kill it. Once its dead, stand on top of its corpse and use the Cooking Pot to cook the Demon Broiled Surprise. Once it’s completed, deliver it back to The Rokk to complete the quest.
These are the 4 kinds of quest The Rokk has to offer for the daily quest. Each day, The Rokk will offer a random quest from those quests listed above. It’s a good idea to stock up on the listed cooked foods beforehand so you don't have to bother with killing additional mobs just to get their meat to cook. Completing the cooking daily quest will get you 7g and 59s as a money reward, together with a choice of Barrel of Fish or Crate of Meat as the item reward. These 2 items hold raw food items together with a random gray-quality item and sometimes, the new Cooking recipes introduced with the patch.
The Barrel of Fish contains raw fishes, and if you're lucky, a fish-related cooking recipe. The Crate of Meat on the other hand contains raw meat and a meat-related cooking recipe if you're lucky. Also, some of the new recipes are not limited to be gotten from just the Barrel of Fish or from just the Crate of Meat, you can get them from either one. The recipe drops are not 100%, so you'll probably need to do lots of cooking dailies until you get all of the new recipes.
The New Cooking Recipes
Recipe: Broiled Bloodfin
- Obtained from Barrel of Fish.
- Requires Cooking (300) to learn.
- Health-restoring food with a Well-Fed buff of 20 Stamina and Spirit for 30 minutes.
- Requires Bloodfin Catfish to cook. This new fish can be caught from the river outside Karazhan or the waters inside Zul'Aman.
Recipe: Skullfish Soup
- Obtained from Barrel of Fish.
- Requires Cooking (325) to learn.
- Mana-restoring food with a Well-Fed buff of 20 Spell Critical Strike Rating and Spirit for 30 minutes.
- Requires Crescent-Tail Skullfish to cook. This new fish can be caught from the river outside Karazhan or the waters inside Zul'Aman.
This is the new food consumable with a Spell Critical Strike Rating Well-Fed buff. It’s the only one that provides spell critical strike rating, and can be pretty profitable for casters that want additional critical strike rating.
Recipe: Spicy Hot Talbuk
- Obtained from Crate of Meat.
- Requires Cooking (325) to learn.
- Health-restoring food with a Well-Fed buff of 20 Hit Rating and Spirit for 30 minutes.
- Requires Talbuk Venison and Hot Spices to cook.
This new food is the only one with the Hit Rating Well-Fed buff. Melee characters can now avail of these if they need more hit rating.
Recipe: Kibler's Bits
- Obtained from Barrel of Fish or Crate of Meat.
- Requires Cooking (300) to learn.
- Pet food which increases Strength and Spirit of your pet by 20 for 30 minutes.
- Requires Buzzard Meat to cook.
A new pet food. This time, it’s for increasing pet DPS.
Recipe: Delicious Chocolate Cake
- Obtained from Barrel of Fish or Crate of Meat.
- Requires Cooking (1) to learn.
- Applies a "Very Happy" buff for 1 hour when used.
- Requires 8 Simple Flour, 4 Ice Cold Milk, 4 Mild Spices, 8 Small Egg, 1 Flask of Port and 3 Mageroyal to cook.
This food apparently has a reference to the Portal game. The 'Very Happy' buff does nothing, aside from shooting out fireworks above you once you eat it.
Recipe: Stormchops
- Obtained from Barrel of Fish or Crate of Meat.
- Requires Cooking (300) to learn.
- Applies an "Electrified" buff for 30 minutes when used. Zaps nearby enemies with a lightning bolt.
- Requires Clefthoof Meat and Lightning Eel to cook.
Finally, a decent use for the Lightning Eel. This food can be good for additional threat generation for tanks, or just can be used by anyone for additional damage. The zap is pretty low though, about 30 dmg. Zapping critters is interesting though, since it deals around 600+ damage to them. This is useful for PvP, zapping stealthed players nearby. For instances, this is bad for some situations, when you have some mobs crowd-controlled. Otherwise, it’s good for a little additional DPS.
Enjoy the new Cooking Dailies and collect all those new recipes!
