World of Warcraft Fishing Daily Quest Guide

Edit This Entry

NameFishing Daily Quest Guide
CategoryQuest
Included with the patch 2.4, are new daily quests. Similar to the Cooking daily quests, Blizzard has added a new profession daily. This time, it’s all about fishing, and from these quests you can get cash, several +100 fishing lures, fishing related items, a junk item that can sell for several golds, or even the rare items like pets and a new cooking recipe.

Located outside of Shattrath City, by Silmyr Lake's shore is the new NPC, Old Man Barlo, a human, who gives the Fishing daily quest. The quest that he gives is random for each day, among 5 kinds of Fishing quests that he can give. These quests are very easy to do, all you need is a fishing pole and sufficient fishing skill to fish in the required area.

List of Fishing Poles that can be used

- Received as a quest reward from the Alliance-only quest "The Family and the Fishing Pole". You can get the quest from Gubber Gump at Auberdine in Darkshore. This quest is fishing related, and requires you to fish out 6 Darkshore Groupers to complete the quest. You can fish for these along the coast of Auberdine.

- Its a common item, and can drop from mobs. Also, Shellfish Traps underwater near Shadowprey Village (Horde Town) in Desolace has a better chance to contain these.

Seth's Graphite Fishing Pole
- A good fishing pole, with huge stamina bonus to boot. Increases fishing skill by 20.
- Requires 200 fishing skill to be equipped.
- Received as a quest reward from the quest "Rather Be Fishin'". You can get the quest from Seth at Lower City in Shattrath City. He is a kid located at the infirmary, in between the netherdrakes and The Rokk. The quest requires you to get 8 Pristine Shimmerscale Eels from Shimmerscale Eels in Silmyr Lake. You have to kill these eel mobs underwater and get 8 of these quest items to complete the quest.

Nat Pagle's Extreme Angler FC-5000
- The best fishing pole that can be easily acquired by Horde (Alliance players cannot get this fishing pole). Increases fishing skill by 25.
- Requires 100 fishing skill to be equipped.
- Received as a quest reward from the Horde-only quest "Snapjaws, Mon!". You can get the quest from Katoom the Angler at Revantusk Village (Horde Town) in The Hinterlands. He is a troll fisherman standing atop the crates by the dock. The quest requires you to kill 15 Saltwater Snapjaws to complete the quest. The snapjaws are neutral turtle mobs that can be found just outside the village.

Arcanite Fishing Pole
- The best of the best, increases fishing skill by 35.

During the event, Tastyfish schools appear anywhere along the coast of Stranglethorn Vale. You will need to fish out 40 Speckled Tastyfish as fast as you can and win the tournament. The first person to turn in 40 Speckled Tastyfish to Riggle Bassbait in Booty Bay will win the tournament, and can opt to get this great fishing pole as a reward. Its a server-wide event, so it will not be easy to win.

- Requires 100 fishing skill to be used.
- Acquired from Bag of Fishing Treasures, which is the quest reward for completing the fishing daily quest.

These are the basic tools you will need to fish. Basically, you will just need Nat Pagle's Extreme Angler FC-5000 if you are horde, or any of the +20 fishing poles if you are alliance. If you got lucky and you won the Fishing Extravaganza event, go ahead and use your Arcanite Fishing Pole. Aside from the poles, stock up on those Aquadynamic Fish Attractors for luring your pole. If you don't have them, Bright Baubles should be enough and they are sold by any Fishing Supplies NPC unlimitedly. Of course, you will need to have sufficient fishing skill level to fish in the area required.

The Daily Fishing Quests

Fishing Quest # 1 - Crocolisks in the City
- Requires 1 Baby Crocolisk.

This quest is the simplest one to complete. All you need to do is to go to your faction's major city (Orgrimmar for Horde, Stormwind for Alliance) and fish there. Since you are fishing inside your faction's city, you will only need to have at least learned how to fish (Fishing skill level 1). If you are having fish getting away, use up a lure to increase your fishing. Once you've fished up a Baby Crocolisk, you may return to Old Man Barlo for the quest completion and your reward.

Fishing Quest # 2 - Felblood Fillet
- Requires 1 Monstrous Felblood Snapper.

For this quest, you will need to find fel pools to fish this one out, and there are only 2 zones in Outland that has fel pools. One is at Hellfire Peninsula, specifically at the Pools of Aggonar. This is the only area with fel waters in Hellfire Peninsula, and it’s very near to Old Man Barlo so it’s basically the recommended spot for doing this quest. Its unconfirmed as to what level of fishing is required to fish in here, but it’s surely below 300 fishing skill.

You may try it out with your current fishing skill, but if you are not successful with it, or you are getting get-aways just go and use up a lure to increase your fishing skill temporarily. The other zone with fel waters is Shadowmoon Valley, but it’s not really good to fish out here since its too far, and it would require more fishing skill to successfully fish because of it being a high-level zone. Just pick a zone to fish and whip out your fishing pole, then return to Old Man Barlo once you've gotten a Monstrous Felblood Snapper.

Fishing Quest # 3 - Shrimpin' Ain't Easy
- Requires 10 Giant Freshwater Shrimp.

This one has to be done in Zangarmarsh. The zone is basically a large swamp, and there are several lakes that you can fish on. Pick any lake you like and pull out your fishing pole and fish for Bloated Barbed Gill Trouts. Of course, the lakes in Zangarmars have different fishing skill level requirements, but for the most convenience just go to the closest lake which is Umbrafen Lake. This lake has the lowest fishing skill requirement too so you will have it easy fishing in here.

Umbrafen Lake's fishing skill requirement is about 305 to be able to cast your line, but of course you'll want higher fishing skill level so fish will not get away from your bobber. Don't hesitate to use a lure to increase your fishing skill temporarily if you are getting get-aways or have not enough fishing skill to cast. Once you've fished up some Bloated Barbed Gill Trouts, open them up to find 1-2 Giant Freshwater Shrimps (and some trash). Keep fishing up more of these bloated fish and opening them up until you get 10 Giant Freshwater Shrimps. Once you get all 10, you can return to Old Man Barlo to complete the quest and receive your reward.

Fishing Quest # 4 - Bait Bandits
- Requires 1 Blackfin Darter.

This quest will have you fishing in the same zone as Old Man Barlo, Terokkar Forest. Old Man Barlo tells you that these Blackfin Darters only reside on moving waters, so you'll have to find rivers in Terokkar Forest and fish there instead of fishing in lakes. Additionally, he will tell you that you will need to reel in at the last possible second for you to successfully catch these Blackfin Darters. Unfortunately, this is misleading. To catch the required Blackfin Darter, just fish normally, reeling (clicking on the bobber) as you see something tugging on your fishing bobber. Fishing in Terrokar needs around 355 fishing skill level to cast, so you will want to lure up and increase your fishing skill temporarily so you will get less fish getting away from your line. Once you have caught a Blackfin Darter, you may return to Old Man Barlo to complete your quest and receive your reward.

Fishing Quest # 5 - The One That Got Away
- Requires 1 World's Largest Mudfish.

This one will ask you to fish in Nagrand. Old Man Barlo asks you to fish out the largest mudfish that escaped his line when he was fishing in Nagrand. It is a Figluster's Mudfish, but you don't need to go and find a Mudfish School to catch this particular fish. Also, the only possible places to catch the fish are the 2 largest lakes in Nagrand, Lake Sunspring and Skysong Lake. These 2 lakes have different fishing skill level requirements to be able to cast, with Skysong Lake as the lake with the lower requirement. Skysong Lake requires about 395 fishing skill level to be able to cast, and since it’s basically the lake nearest to Old Man Barlo, Skysong Lake is recommended for fishing out the World's Largest Mudfish.

Also, make sure your bobber lands where "Skysong Lake" is indicated. This is just to make sure you are actually fishing in "Skysong Lake" and not "Nagrand" or some other place where you are standing. Since Nagrand requires high fishing skill level to fish, you might as well use up your +100 fishing lures if you still have low fishing skill. If you already have like 375 fishing skill, luring your pole just ensures successful catching of fishes. Be patient and when you finally caught the World's Largest Mudfish, return to Old Man Barlo for your quest completion and the reward.

These are the 5 kinds of quest Old Man Barlo has to offer for the daily quest. Each day, Old Man Barlo will offer a random quest from those quests listed above. It’s a good idea to stock up on fishing lures so you won't have any problems when fishing on zones in the Outlands requiring high fishing skill level. Completing the fishing daily quest will get you a Bag of Fishing Treasures. This bag contains around 6-7g money, a common item or a grey junk item that can sell for some gold, and a common fishing related item. The common item can be some Sharpened Fish Hooks or some Elixirs of Water Walking. The Bag of Fishing Treasures can also contain a rare item if you are lucky. One of the rare items found in the bag is the 2 Ring, which is basically the best rare item that can be found.

The List of Rare Items found in the Bag of Fishing Treasures

Bucket Pet
- Non-combat pet, Bind on Pickup.
- Can be Chuck's Bucket, Muckbreath's Bucket, Snarly's Bucket, Toothy's Bucket.
- There are actually 4 kinds of bucket pet, and you can get one if you're lucky. These bucket pets are basically mini crocolisk pets with different colors.

Eye of the Sea
- Bind on Equip, Unique-Equipped blue gem.
- +15 Stamina, fits into a blue socket.
- This is basically similar to a Solid Empyrean Sapphire, but can only have one socketed at a time. Since it's Bind on Equip, you can sell these on the Auction House for a hefty amount of gold.

Spun Truesilver Line
- Bind on Pickup, consumable permanent enchantment.
- Requires 300 fishing skill to use.
- Increases fishing skill of enchanted item by 3.
- This is basically a permanent enchantment for your fishing pole. Once applied to your fishing pole, it gives the fishing pole a +3 fishing skill increase. Its a permanent enchant, so it stacks with the temporary enchantments, particularly the fishing lures.

Weather-Beaten Fishing Hat
- Bind on Pickup, Headgear.
- 101 Armor, 40 Stamina, 40 Spirit.
- Increases fishing skill by 5.
- On use: Temporarily enchants your fishing pole with +75 fishing skill. 10 minute cooldown.
- Basically a headgear that increases fishing skill by 5 with a reusable "Bright Baubles" every 10 minutes, essentially giving your fishing pole a free constant +75 fishing skill if used every cooldown. This saves you from buying Bright Baubles from vendors each time you want to fish. Although if you are using +100 fishing lures all the time, the on-use on this headgear is pretty much useless.

Recipe: Captain Rumsey's Lager
- Cooking recipe, Bind on Pickup.
- Requires 100 cooking skill to learn.
- Increases fishing skill by 10 when drinked for 3 minutes, as well as making you tipsy.
- Requires 1 Skin of Dwarven Stout and 1 Flagon of Mead to cook.
- A new cooking recipe from the fishing quests! This time, it gives you a buff that increases your fishing skill for 3 minutes, and makes you tipsy too. It’s fairly easy to make since you can get the raw materials from bartender NPCs in inns. An easy fishing skill buff if I would say.

The 2 Ring
- Bind on Equip ring, Epic quality.
- 22 on all stats.
- Requires level 70 to equip.
- The rarest item you can get from the fishing quests. It is greatly superior to its counterpart, The 1 Ring (+1 to all stats). Since it is Bind on Equip, you can basically sell or trade it. This would be the most desirable item for hybrid classes like druids and shamans.

Enjoy the new Fishing Dailies and collect all those crocolisk pets!
