World of Warcraft Guide to the 45 minute Baron Run

Edit This Entry

NameGuide to the 45 minute Baron Run
CategoryRaid
Party Composition:
1 Tank - Warrior / a good Feral tank druid
1 Main healer - Priest (can also shackle)
1 Backup healer - Druid / Shaman / Paladin
1 AoE - Mage (most preferred, can counterspell-pull too) / Warlock
1 Damage dealer - Rogue / Hunter / another Mage / Warlock

Additional notes:
Looting
Loot fast, quick as possible, especially on the boss loots. Loot distribution takes up time, and you only have 45 minutes to get to Baron and kill him. Decide with the group how the loot distribution will be handled beforehand, or while the group hasn't opened the Gauntlet gate yet. A suggestion would be, all BoE loots and boss scourgestones are greed rolled for. For BoP boss loots, if an enchanter is in the group, he rolls greed by default, others pass. If there's no enchanter, all roll greed. If anyone needs any of the drops, he rolls need. This way, there won't be much time being wasted on distributing/rolling for loot. As for shards, the group should distribute it later when Baron is already killed.

Pulling
Since you only have 45 minutes to reach Baron Rivendare, you need to shorten the time for pulling and killing. For this run, the group should be constantly pulling, or chain-pulling in other words. It means, while others are killing the current mob, when its already low on health, the person who's assigned for pulling should pull the next mob. If there should be a patrol pull, don't wait for it to pass. Pull the next non-patrol pull instead and kill it quick. If the patrol comes, do the necessary crowd control if needed (shackle), or just have the tank take it, and continue killing the current mob before moving on to the patrol mob that came. Mage will be a good person to be assigned for pulling, since if ever the necromancers need to be pulled, they can silence-pull them. Or if undead packs are going to be pulled, the priest can shackle-pull. Don't wait for confirmation if the group is ready for pulling, they should always be ready, and there is a deadline. Pull, kill, pull, kill. No resting!

Also, since time permits it, the group doesn't need to kill all visible mobs that you see are in the way. Specific mobs are going to be left alone, and the group should be careful on moving through the instance, avoiding those mobs that are left alone, so those won't be pulled. If ever an accident occurs and you pulled a mob, don't panic. Crowd control as needed, shackle undead elites, or sheep humanoids. Kill the current mob quick, or if you're not currently killing anything, go and DPS the adds quick, then move on.

Healing
All throughout the instance, you're basically chain-pulling, so there is really very minimal time to be out of combat, and drink. With this, 2 healers on the group would be great, rotating every time one runs out of mana and needs to drink. If you got a druid in the group, having innervate lets the healers to rotate less often. With that, its best to have the healers on their +spirit gear on, so they regenerate mana faster while on the move. Whenever there's a single instance that you are out of combat, and you're a healer out of mana, drink. Be sure to inform the other healer that you are drinking, so he knows that he'll be main healing for a while, till you regain mana, then you can resume main healing and the other healer can drink on the next moment he's out of combat. Don't forget to decurse/cure disease/poison when its needed.

Eye of Naxxramas
Be on the alert on these ones. When it spawns, it will yell, so be on the lookout on your chat logs, look for it and kill it quick before it summons additional mobs for you to fight.

Gargoyle patrols
Some gargoyle patrols you pull can possibly cast fear. Priest should be on alert, and dispel the other party members quickly before they run near a mob and aggro them as adds.

Ziggurats
When you kill each of the ziggurat bosses, you still need to kill the humanoids inside each ziggurat to open the gate to the slaughterhouse. To maximize time, have only the mage, and a healer run in the ziggurat, while the other three are going to continue chain-pulling the next mobs needed.

Wiping
If ever you wipe before getting to Baron, and you think you still have time, release and run back. Go quickly to your position before you wiped, eat/drink, buff up, then continue immediately. You'll notice that you will lose the timer debuff on you, so its better to have a backup timer in case.

If you wipe on Baron, he kills Ysida immediately, so in short, the 45 minutes run fails. But you can still continue and kill him either way, but you won't be able to talk to Ysida to finish your 0.5 tier quest.

Guide/Mob pull sequence and Strategies
Once you enter the service entrance (back entrance) of Stratholme, its generally AoE killing for the mobs beyond the first gate. The timer won't be starting here, so take your time, and kill the skeleton mobs and elite zombies. There will be 3 sets of pulls on these. Once you're done, drink up, get all the necessary buffs, and open the Gauntlet gate. When it is opened, the 45minute timer will start. Run in, and open the other gate.

Your first pull will be the banshee ahead. Group should stay at the gate, and pull the mobs to them. During these pulls, there are several gargoyle patrols, so the assigned puller should be aware on which to pull the safest. The next pull should be the spider up ahead, so grab it quickly, and run back to the group, and out of line of sight of the spider, so it will move to the group. Next pull should be a gargoyle patrol, time it, and grab one. If you see green light on its hands, its casting, so be alert and counterspell it quick, so it will pull to the group. Next pull is another patrol. After that, get the next spider and pull it to the group. Once its nearly dead, go pull the next patrol. Keep pulling the patrols until you see there is no more coming. Once the patrols are out, pull the banshee to the left. Once the banshee is dead, move up a bit, to the left, near where the banshee you just killed was. Avoid the 3 ghouls to your right.

Next pull is the banshee to the right. After that, are the 2 ghouls in front of you. Shackle one, and focus fire on the other. Next pull should be the spider to the right. Once its done, move up the path, just a little to the right of where the 2 ghouls were positioned.

Next pull is 2 ghouls by the left wall ahead. Same deal, shackle one, focus fire on other. Next is the banshee along the path. Be careful on getting the gargoyle patrolling here. After it, you can now pull the gargoyle patrol. Kill it, then pull the spider. If its not moving closer, puller should move to the wall to your left, to get out of line of sight for the spider. After the spider is the banshee near it. Kill it, drink up, and pull the banshee boss. Stay in your position, and don't move too much back, or you might pull the 3 ghouls that you left behind.

Baroness Anastari
The assigned puller pulls her, then the tank grabs her. Get some sunders in, then start DPS. If you have AoE fear ability (warrior/priest/warlock), use them up immediately. Once in a while, she will possess one of the group members. The possession has a duration, but since you're on a deadline, don't wait for it. Go ahead and 'kill' your possessed party member. Once he's down to like 30% health, possession will come off, and that party member will have his health reset to full health. Baroness will appear to where she disappeared to possess someone earlier. Continue to DPS her down. Loot. Clear the ziggurat. Be careful on running to and from the ziggurat, as you might aggro the mobs nearby.

After the boss fight and clearing the ziggurat, move to your left, and pull the humanoids nearby. Move up along the wall, and avoid the 3 ghouls on the other side of the wall. Next pull is the spider, then the banshee, and then another spider. After the 2nd spider, move up more, still hugging the walls, to where the spider was located. Continue pulling the banshee to your right. After that, its a 2 humanoid+skeleton+spider pull. Have the priest shackle the spider, and the mage sheep one humanoid. Focus fire on the other humanoid, then kill the other humanoid next, then the spider last. Drink up quick, then pull the spider boss.

Nerub'Enkan
This boss will summon spiders mid-fight. So have the tank grab it, kill the add, then continue DPS on the boss until it dies. Loot. Clear the ziggurat. Move by the left side of the stairs so you can avoid the large mob to the right side.

Continue to move along the walls, then clear the gate trap, AoE the little critters down. Stay here, and pull the 3 humanoids to the right. Sheep one, and just kill the other two fast, focusing on one humanoid at a time. Next pull is the banshee ahead. After that, get the 3 ghouls to the left by shackle-pulling. Tank the other two, focus fire on one ghoul at a time. Get the gargoyle patrols before moving up to where the ghouls were located.

Get the 2 humanoids to the left by the wall. After that, get the spider ahead, then the banshee. Move up above the fountain, then facing the gates to the slaughterhouse, pull the 3 ghouls to the right. After that, get the banshee near them. Face the other way, towards the last ziggurat, and pull the 3 ghouls to the left by the wall. After that, pull the spider nearby where the ghouls were, then the banshee behind it. Move up along the wall towards the ziggurat, and let the warrior charge the 4 humanoids ahead, getting them all, then have the mage AoE them.

After killing the mob, pull the 3 humanoids at the base of the ziggurat stairs to your current location, and as usual, sheep one for crowd-control. Once these are dead, drink up, warrior charges the boss, and the other members follow, staying at the left side of the stairs.

Maleki the Pallid
No big issue to this boss. He occasionally freezes someone, but other than that just kill him quick. Loot. Clear the ziggurat. Now the slaughterhouse gate is open.

Retrace your steps, but still hugging the walls, towards the slaughterhouse. Once you're near the gate, move forward, and deal with the 2 ghouls. Ignore Magistrate or you'll be wasting time. Enter the gate. No one should be left out because the gate closes once you pull the first abomination. Stay here, chain-pulling aboms one after another. Don't wait for the first one to come, pull immediately. If a shaman is present, remember to keep poison cleansing totem up whenever you're fighting Venom Belchers. Otherwise, have the druid poison-cleanse. If none of the two are present, it will be pretty hard, but you can cover up by more healing or having heal-over-time on each poisoned member (priest renew). For Bile Spewers, have the mage AoE the slimes. Shackle an abom if you ever pull too many. When there are around 4-5 aboms left, move outside the gate for more visibility. When the last abom goes down, the next boss comes out of the main ziggurat. Mana up and get ready.

Ramstein the Gorger
Usual boss fight. Just tank him, keep aggro, DPS him down. After he's dead, ignore the loot for a while, mage drink up, and get ready to AoE the tons of non-elite skellies that comes. Once they're dead, heal up, drink up, and get ready for the 4 skeleton elites that are coming. Priest can shackle one, then tank grabs the others and mage Aloe’s them down. Once their dealt with, loot Ramstein, drink up, buff up. Don't forget the shadow protection buff from the priest. Move in the ziggurat, and face Baron Rivendare.

Baron Rivendare
He has an aura that constantly deals little shadow damage, and interrupts casting. Tank grabs him and brings him to the right side, while the casters/ranged are on the left side. When Baron summons the skeletons, have the mage AoE them quick, before Baron manages to cast Death Pact on them. Death Pact heals Baron, so kill the skeletons quick to avoid that. DPS him down, mage AoE on the skels occasionally, and kill him. Loot. And congratulations, you have cleared Stratholme undead side in 45 minutes or less! Now you can relax, and talk to the NPC to complete your quest. You can go and kill Magistrate now if you want, just remember to stay to the left.
