Here is a guide dedicated to help you reach Hyacintha here and today I am interviewing the ever lovely Uni the Holy Priestess. She has many great things to tell us about the Priest class in World of Warcraft, and in this issue she will be going over all of the different talent builds!

Hyacintha: Wow! There seem to be a lot of really good talents for Priests. Now, can you tell us about some of the builds?

Uni: Of course. There are a lot of creative builds you can come up with as a Priest. I’ll list some of them bellow with a brief description of its abilities, and an overall setup of talent points.

This first build is the Smite build. This build will dish out some serious damage. The neatest part about using any build with holy damage is that it is not restrained by any resistances. You lose some of the utility of a shadow priest, however you most certainly gain some in the aspect that you can off-heal more effectively in general. Mana expenditure is a worry, but with better gear this becomes less of a problem and the build truly does what it is meant to.

SMITE

Discipline (34 points)

5/5 Unbreakable Will
5/5 Silent Resolve
2/2 Improved Power Word: Fortitude
2/2 Martyrdom
1/1 Inner Focus
3/3 Meditation
2/2 Improved Mana Burn
5/5 Mental Strength
1/1 Divine Spirit
2/2 Improved Divine Spirit
5/5 Force of Will
1/1 Power Infusion

Holy (27 points)

2/2 Healing Focus
3/3 Improved Renew
5/5 Holy Specialization
5/5 Divine Fury
1/1 Holy Nova
2/2 Holy Reach
2/2 Searing Light
5/5 Spiritual Guidance
2/2 Surge of Light

This build is a pretty simple Holy and Discipline Arena build. It is extremely popular for PvP.

HOLY/DISP ARENA

Discipline (28 points)

5/5 Unbreakable Will
5/5 Silent Resolve
2/2 Martyrdom
2/3 Absolution
1/1 Inner Focus
3/3 Meditation
5/5 Mental Agility
2/2 Improved Mana Burn
1/1 Divine Spirit
2/2 Focused Power

Holy (33 points)

2/2 Healing Focus
3/3 Improved Renew
5/5 Holy Specialization
5/5 Spell Warding
5/5 Divine Fury
1/3 Blessed Recovery
1/3 Inspiration
2/2 Healing Prayers
1/1 Spirit of Redemption
5/5 Spiritual Healing
3/3 Blessed Resilience

This is a standard PvP Shadow build. This build is a pretty pure PvP build. It goes right to the end of the shadow tree to get a second damage over time spell. The build is only slightly feasible for raiding, but in the new arena system, as well as normal PvP, it will really ‘melt faces’ as they say.

SHADOW PvP

Discipline (18 points)

5/5 Unbreakable Will
2/2 Improved Power Word: Fortitude
3/3 Improved Power Word: Shield
2/2 Martyrdom
3/3 Absolution
1/1 Inner Focus
2/2 Improved Mana Burn

Shadow (43 points)

5/5 Blackout
2/2 Improved Shadow Word: Pain
3/5 Shadow Focus
2/2 Improved Psychic Scream
4/5 Improved Mind Blast
1/1 Mind Flay
2/2 Shadow Reach
5/5 Shadow Weaving
1/1 Silence
1/1 Vampiric Embrace
2/2 Improved Vampiric Embrace
3/3 Focused Mind
5/5 Darkness
1/1 Shadowform
5/5 Misery
1/1 Vampiric Touch

This is a Raid Shadow Build. The Shadow Priest is a tremendously dominant group supporting specialization, which deals balanced damage and offers a lot of utility. This is a great build for a DPS slot in a raid.

RAID SHADOW

Discipline (14 points)

5/5 Unbreakable Will
2/2 Improved Power Word: Fortitude
1/3 Improved Power Word: Shield
2/2 Martyrdom
1/1 Inner Focus
3/3 Meditation

Shadow (47 points)

5/5 Spirit Tap
3/3 Shadow Affinity
2/2 Improved Shadow Word: Pain
5/5 Shadow Focus
4/5 Improved Mind Blast
1/1 Mind Flay
2/2 Shadow Reach
4/5 Shadow Weaving
1/1 Vampiric Embrace
3/3 Focused Mind
5/5 Darkness
1/1 Shadowform
5/5 Shadow Power
5/5 Misery
1/1 Vampiric Touch

This is a Raid Healer build, which contains Circle of Healing. It is pretty standard.

RAID HEALER

Discipline (19 points)

5/5 Unbreakable Will
2/2 Improved Power Word: Fortitude
3/3 Improved Power Word: Shield
3/3 Absolution
1/1 Inner Focus
3/3 Meditation
2/5 Mental Agility

Holy (42 points)

2/2 Healing Focus
3/3 Improved Renew
5/5 Holy Specialization
5/5 Divine Fury
3/3 Inspiration
3/3 Improved Healing
2/2 Healing Prayers
5/5 Spiritual Guidance
5/5 Spiritual Healing
3/3 Holy Concentration
5/5 Empowered Healing
1/1 Circle of Healing

This next build is my personal favorite, known as the Holy Warrior build. It is designed for maximizing Holy damage put out by the priest in a short period of time. The build itself provides enormous and reliable damage, since Holy damage is not subject to resistances. In addition, the Priest preserves their ability to heal, making them useful as a healer and DPS, or one or the other at any given time. The downsides are the lack of possible damage sustainability, which you otherwise find in the Shadow tree, and utility, which is normally found with Discipline.

Hyacintha: Wow, Uni. It really sounds like Priests can do whatever they want to. As long as you are open to new and innovative ideas, it seems like a Priest can pull of anything that they want to. Thanks so much for going over these builds with us and teaching us all about the different types of priests out there.

Uni: You are welcome! Remember, being a Priest is not an easy job. You have to be on top of things! Priest strategies generally involve conserving mana and using heals, shields, and buffs advantageously. It takes a great player to make a great priest. So, good luck and enjoy all of the many gaming opportunities that await you as a Priest!
